About Troy Mertz
Experienced in finance, capital deployment, and profit and loss monitoring, Troy Mertz serves as the chief executive officer of Delaware Trust and Lending. In this role, Mertz focuses on special-purpose real estate assets in suburban Chicago, ranging from raw or developed land to water and sanitary sewer systems. In addition to producing finished lot inventories for residential developers, these properties often attract commercial property builders. In addition to his work with Delaware Trust and Lending, Troy Mertz oversees Gilberts Development, LLC, and manages a mixed-use project in an Illinois village.
Before beginning his career, Mertz attended Purdue University, where he received a bachelor of science in finance. After graduation, he became a floor broker and trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME). Over the course of his 20 years at CME, he has traded diverse commodities, including British pounds, Swiss francs, Euros, Live Cattle, and Standard & Poor's 500 index options. During this period, Troy Mertz has weathered financial crises such as the 1997 Asian contagion; the 2010 "Flash Crash"; and the post-September 11, 2001, crash.
In 2007, while continuing to maintain his position at CME, Troy Mertz founded TMZ Brokerage in Chicago. As an options broker, trader, and market maker for the firm, he has completed more than 1 million exchange-traded contracts totaling over $350 billion in equity annually. He also offers quality customer service by communicating regularly with his clients, performing diligent research into the markets and trends, and evaluating the Standard & Poor's 500 index.
